This will be the last time…I promise!
Anyone who’s been in my room a lot since about a year ago will know that I’ve changed the layout at least ten times; sometimes I’d even change it twice…in one week. I’m the happiest with my current layout, but there are some changes to my lifestyle coming up within the next few months that will require one final move.
First and foremost, I will be getting rid of my TV, and I advise as many of you as possible to do the same. The biggest reason for this is that I don’t watch TV, and even if I did, you can watch just about anything online using sites like Hulu, YouTube, and Vimeo. Once I convince my parents to make the switch, that’ll be $40 off of our monthly cable bill.
Secondly, the “flow” of my room just doesn’t work for me. When I listen to music, it sounds great, but the majority of it goes into my right ear because of the way my desk is positioned. It’s a bit hard to get to my second closet door, too.
My plan is to get rid of my dresser and, again, the TV that sits on top of it. This will be replaced with my large bookshelf that is currently next to my futon. The 3 bookshelves will then all be angled 45° from each other. The smaller bookshelf will then probably go to the left of those bookshelves, making a “J” shape. My futon will be replaced with a real bed, one that’s also full-sized and high enough to be used as a chair for my computer. With that being said, my desk will go in front of my bed. My speakers will then be able to be positioned properly, and hopefully I’ll be able to mount the surround sound speakers onto the wall behind me. My game systems and DVD player will be hooked up to my monitor via a converter box. Since I have 2 monitors already, I can game and compute at the same time. This will all be brought together through the use of this mouse and a new keyboard, though probably not wireless.
This way, I’ll be able to sit at my computer comfortably, be able to watch movies with friends on my bed using my computer, and the monitor can swivel around and face towards my windows if we ever want to play something like Rock Band or Wii Fit.
What do you think of the idea?
