Crossover fail

Feb. 10, 2010

In my LAN Hardware class today, we finally were able to use our networking kits we bought. I made a straight-through cable and a crossover cable, both of which I’ve done dozens of times, thanks to Mr. Stewart’s class a few years back.

My straight-through cable worked fine, but I couldn’t get the crossover cable to work, even though my wire pairs matched up perfectly. I probably tried four more times and kept failing. A lot of other people couldn’t get theirs to work either, although they all had a different problem than I did. Regardless, we decided to call it quits and try again next week.
