Okay, so I know this is major TL;DR material, but this is a really kickass slideshow put together by ex-Google social technology researcher Paul Adams about real life social networking vs. how we do it online today, and how the online counterpart could be changed to better reflect how we do it in real life.

This presentation re-emerged earlier today along with some other news about a project called “Google Circles.” It was rumored to have been announced at SXSW, but that rumor was later denied by a Google employee. Whether or not Google is working on this social network we’ve been hearing about for a few years now, the presentation is definitely an extremely good read, and if they can manage to accomplish the things they talked about, I think we have a very interesting future to look forward to!

Reblogging for relevance, especially considering everything in this came true with the introduction of Google+. Everyone should read this, even if they aren’t interested in Google+. It brings up a lot of good points and provides a lot of good insight into the way we use social networks today.

So I’ve been using Google+ for exactly two weeks now

And I have to say, I’m impressed. Very, very impressed.

At least, that’s the short answer. It still has a ton it needs to improve on before going public. It’s missing a lot of features you’d think they would have included right from the get-go. However, I do think it was wise of them to get the product out in the open this early on, because 90% of the time, users will find problems and scenarios that even all of the employees at Google didn’t discover or think of.

In fact, many of the team members working on the project have already come forth and made short vlogs about upcoming changes; things they’ve gotten as feedback just in the last two weeks, specifically in these five videos right here.

You have to remember that it’s not even public yet (Google’s calling it a 0.1 release, so it’s very much beta), and nobody’s expected to switch to it and make it their main social network. Apparently there are already close to 10 million users on Google+, if not more, depending on who you talk to. We’re definitely gonna see a ton of changes over the next few months, and it should be pretty exciting to see it all change.

If anything, these advances in Google+ will only further push Facebook, Twitter, etc. to innovate even further. I go back to Facebook now and I can barely look at it. It’s just so…ugly and outdated in comparison. But competition is good for everyone! Google+ has already created a ton of buzz and is making waves (see what I did there?) throughout the internet. Expect to see big changes in social networking across the board over the next year.

Google’s just pulling out all the stops this week. They redesigned Google Calendar, and I’ve gotta say…it looks awfully sexy!
And apparently they’re working on overhauling all of their apps within the next few months! :D
EDIT: Maps, too! Yay!

Guess who got a Google+ invite?

Oh yes. Yours truly. :)

BRB, gonna waste away the rest of my evening playing with this~

Vic Gundotra is on This Week in Google!

And talking about Google+! BRB, geeking out hardcore for the next hour. :3

(Well, 15 mins. of Vic since he’s at work and only has a short break, haha.)

I’m kind of super excited about Google+.

I hope it delivers so I can finally leave Facebook behind. :|

This is what I took away from WWDC ‘11 today.
Apple is not-so-conspicuously copying ideas from Google. But it’s okay, all of these things Apple is coming out with are “magical” and “revolutionary”!
Why am I not surprised? SMDH. But hey, at least it fosters creativity and competition. So that’s a plus, right?

This experimental New Tab page in Chrome is pretty nifty. For anyone wanting to try it out, you can enable it on the about:flags page.

Oh my GOD. Best commercial ever. So much Nyan Cat!

Mine might not be the 4G version, but I’ve got the coolest phone ever.

Another reason to have a Nexus S, or any NFC-enabled Android phone.

I’m kind of super excited for this.

I’m geeking out so hard you guys. Like, you have no idea.
Just uploaded some of my favorite music to Google Music and deleted the music on my phone…and I can stream it all straight to it. Even over 3G. I’m gonna give it a try tomorrow, and if it’s fast enough, I may never put music on my phone ever again.
AND I found a script to let me scrobble my tracks to Last.fm! SCORE!
I’ve only used up 312 songs…and I have a limit of 20,000, haha. This is so freaking cool, and I can’t wait to fill it up.
